College Football: Owls, Addazio Getting Acquainted in Preseason
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Temple Owls are well underway with their preseason camp as they get ready for the 2011 college football season.
This is Steve Addazio's first training camp as the Owls' head coach. He took over the program from Al Golden, who left to take the Miami (Fla.) job.
"We've hit the ground running," Addazio tells KYW Newsradio. "Our players are working hard, guys are locked in. They are buying what we're selling, so to speak. I'm satisfied with the effort and the intensity and the attention. We're just obviously not where we need to be yet from an execution standpoint, but that's to be expected."
What are Addazio's first concerns in camp?
"We have to establish who that quarterback is going to be. That's really an important deal right there. We've got some changes schematically on both sides of the ball -- those are your concerns, adapting to the packages on both sides of the ball."

Two of the quarterbacks fighting for playing time are junior Mike Gerardi and senior Chester Stewart. Both saw extensive playing time under center last season, with Stewart starting seven games and Gerardi five.
Regardless of who throws the football, one guy that hopes to be catching it a lot is senior wide receiver Rod Streater. He had 30 catches in 2010 and he is hungry for more in 2011.
"The thing I want to do is make plays," he tells KYW Newsradio. "I want to be a playmaker, any time of the game. That's what I want to be."
The Burlington, NJ native talks about preseason under Coach Addazio as opposed to camp under Al Golden:
"It's pretty much the same -- camp is camp. It's going to be hard work: two-a-days is a grind every day. But there's a lot more plays that we've got to learn under Coach Addazio. And every day we have to come out here and get better."
