Coin Collectors Coming To Convention Center

There will be both jingle and jangle at the Philadelphia Convention Center beginning Thursday, as a major coin collecting convention comes to town.

The Whitman Coin & Collectibles Philadelphia Expo, Thursday through Saturday, will feature over 1,000 coin dealers.  Among them, Jeff Garrett, of Northern Kentucky:

"It's a national show, not a regional show, and there will be cutting dealers there from as far away as California and everywhere in between."

Garrett says the most valuable coins have more going for them than metal content.  The 1933 $20 gold piece and 1943 copper penny are prime examples.

But how about all those state quarters???

"You know they made so many of them it'll be a long time before they have a lot of value but they certainly do serve a purpose.  Their most valuable asset is they got a lot of people interested in coins."

And speaking of coins, you won't have to spend any to get in.  The Expo is free.
