Charges Filed In Tuesday's Mass Disturbance in Center City Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia district attorney's office today charged four young adults and 10 juveniles in connection with yesterday afternoon's "mob" incident that disrupted center city (see related story).
Mitchell Symeir, Tymere Wilder, Rashaun Green, and Kenyatta Long, all 18 years old, were charged with conspiracy, obstructing highways, failure to disperse, and disorderly conduct.
The juveniles are facing similar charges, but not as adults. Police have not identified the schools any of the students attend.
Yesterday, just before 4pm, a huge crowd gathered at 15th and Chestnut Streets. Police say a fight broke out between two teen girls. As police tried to disperse the crowd, authorities say, some from the crowd threw bottles at officers.
There were no injuries.
Mr. Kenneth A. Gavin, Director of Communications for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia released the following statement about the incident:
"Yesterday evening, the Office of Catholic Education (OCE) was made aware that students from some of its high schools were present at an altercation involving a large group of teenagers in Center City.
Some students from our schools were arrested and the schools will issue appropriate disciplinary actions to those students. OCE administrators have asked that anyone with information pertinent to this situation contact the Philadelphia Police Department.
OCE will also examine this incident. We do not tolerate the type of behavior exhibited yesterday afternoon and it is not an accurate reflection of our Catholic values. We expect all of our students to treat everyone in a Christ-like manner at all times and in all places. Any other form of behavior is unacceptable and will be handled accordingly."
