Casino's Online Division Cleared To Apply For NJ Gaming License

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (CBS) -- New Jersey's Casino Control Commission has given the green light to a division of Caesar's that handles Internet gambling to obtain its own license in Atlantic City.
This comes on the eve of testing of Internet gambling in the state, which begins tomorrow evening.
Mitchell Garber, CEO of Caesars Interactive Entertainment, was grilled today on how he oversaw gambling for a firm based in Gibraltar that accepted online bets from Americans before that practice was made illegal.
Garber insisted he did everything by the book, and New Jersey deputy attorney general Jack Adams says a probe by the Division of Gaming Enforcement backs that up.
"He did it with legal advice," Adams noted. "He did it with the knowledge that there might have been an unsettled state of the law which was going to eventually result in legislation being passed. And when it was passed, he cut off the US business," Adams says.
