Bryce And Kayla Harper Announce New Baby Boy To World

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia Phillies have a new member of the family. Bryce Harper and his wife, Kayla Harper, announced their new baby boy to the world on Monday.

Bryce Harper revealed on Instagram that Krew Aron Harper was born on Aug. 22, weighing 7 pounds, 9 ounces.

Harper was placed on paternity leave Friday and was back in the lineup Monday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He even hit a solo home run in the eighth inning.

Just days into fatherhood, Harper spoke to the media Monday.

"Everybody's healthy, that's the biggest thing," Harper said. "It's pretty cool to be able to say I'm a dad now. It all went by super quick, I guess you can say. I'm really happy that [Kayla] is healthy, baby's healthy and that's all that matters."

The Harpers announced on Instagram in April that they were expecting their first child.

Fans at Monday night's game said they were rooting for dad and the little one, as well.

"Philadelphia is such a beautiful city to raise a kid so I'm really proud for him and excited to see what comes," fan Gabby Huggins said.

"I figure if you have a baby, you have your three days off or whatever, then right after that you say the first game you hit a home run for him, right?" fan Alex Corle said.

Along with well wishes, some fans were eager to offer parenting advice to the slugger.

"If they are crying a lot and won't stop, it's either you have to check their diaper, you have to entertain them or give them a bottle or whatever they like," fan Hailey Ramos said.

CBS3's Alexandria Hoff contributed to this report.
