Body Found In Trunk Of Car In Trenton Police Chase
TRENTON, N.J. (CBS) - Trenton police are investigating the discovery of a dead body found in the trunk of a car following a police chase early Sunday morning.
Trenton police officers pursued a vehicle from South Clinton and Hamilton Avenues in Trenton to Route 1 southbound in Pennsylvania. The vehicle stopped near the Oxford Valley exits. Police say two men jumped out of the car and tried to run away, but officers caught both men.
Upon making the arrest shortly before 1 a.m., authorities found the body of an African-American male in the trunk of the car.
"One of the gentlemen caught blurted out that he had nothing to do with the body in the back," said Lt. Henry Ward, an officer with the Falls Township Police Department. "So the officers searched the trunk."
Police have identified the victim as 30-year-old Dardar Paye.
Court records show the suspects are Phobus Sullivan, 27, and Mack Edwards, 25. The two are charged with resisting arrest, eluding police, receiving stolen property, and more.
This is a joint investigation between the Buck County Police Department, Pennsylvania State Police, Falls Township Prosecutor's Office, Mercer County Prosecutor's Office and the Trenton Police.
