Annual Charity Motorcycle Event Rides Through Pennsylvania And New Jersey

By John Ostapkovcih

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Another type of cycling event joins the pro bicycling race on Sunday. This one is a motorcycle rally for a good cause.

The Ride for Recovery, benefiting Livengrin Drug and Alcohol Abuse Treatment, has moved in time and space.
In its first seven years, it was in May, says Livengrin's Keith Mason, and sent hundreds of motorcycle riders on a scenic jaunt through Bucks County, but now with a change in sponsor, there's a bridge toll involved....

"We're going to begin over in Mt. Ephrain, New Jersey," Mason says. "And do a New Jersey route up into the country, through the farmlands up in Rancocas and Burlington County and then move over across the Burlington County Bridge through the suburbs in Bucks to Livengrin's location in Bensalem."

Mason says proceeds from the ride go to helping those who can't afford substance abuse treatment to get it, whether from picking up a patient's co-pay to a full ride.

"It's not just a matter of the indigent who appear at our door for the full length of treatment," he says. "It's for people across our whole continuum of care who might need a big hand, a small hand, whatever kind of hand is there and the proceeds go strictly to that."

There's also a raffle at the ride-ending picnic. The top prize... a Harley.
