Analysis: Christie For VP?

By Larry Kane

TRENTON (CBS) - On the campaign trail, a man who isn't running has taken steps to get himself on the ballot.

The big question in the VP guessing game is whether conservatives will accept Mitt Romney's choice. It's apparent now that New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has cleared the decks to make himself acceptable.

This past week, his administration backed off somewhat its support of legal sports betting, then he rejected part of the health care plan providing lost cost insurance collectives. In January he vetoed the bill to legalize gay marriages, urging instead a public referendum.

The dust-off of the Christie resume might be a pre-requisite, if he is selected as the nominee.
