1 Of Camden's 3 Big Fires Declared Arson
CAMDEN, N.J. (CBS) -- The ATF have classified the recent fire at a former chemical plant in Camden as arson. And now officials are seeking the public's help for information that will lead to an arrest.
The six-alarm fire destroyed the vacant Concord Chemical Facility last weekend, causing parts of the building to collapse and the area to be evacuated. Camden County officials called in the ATF, to investigate the scene and now, the feds are saying the fire was deliberate. (see related story)
"The fire was deliberately set, in other words the fire was an arson and we will be investigating the scene as a crime from here forward," said ATF Special Agent Matthew Horace.
Horace says the ATF has put up a $5,000 reward and has set up a hotline to gather more information. The chemical plant fire is the fourth major fire in Camden in the past two weeks and Camden County officials ask residents to be on the look out.
