Yahoo addresses the Yahoo Mail outage via Twitter

(CBS) - This morning, after CNET reported a tip from a reader that Yahoo Mail was experiencing "severe outage issues for the last 24-hours plus," customers didn't hesitate before heading to Twitter to complain about their YMail woes.

Some even threatened to delete their accounts and go straight to Gmail.

Hold your horses, Yahoo Mail users. Help has arrived.

Three hours ago, Yahoo! Customer Care tweeted, "We are aware that some Yahoo! Users cannot sign-in or access e-mail and are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible."

And hooray! One hour ago, the Yahoo! Mail Team told followers, "Some services were inaccessible in certain locations today. We have resolved the issue, all services are restored to full functionality."

Oh the power of Twitter to get breaking news and information. I once was the victim of debit card fraud and received better customer service from my bank's Twitter account than the employees who were working at my local branch. Figures.

Thanks for tweeting updates, Yahoo!
