Woman Throws Urns to Scare Off Funeral Home Robber
MORRISTOWN, Tenn. (CBS/AP) A Morristown funeral home owner said his daughter scared off an armed man during a robbery of the family business by throwing empty urns at his head.
Police said 32-year-old Teresa Mayes was opening Mayes Family Services on Friday morning and found a man armed with a knife waiting for her.
Her father, Buddy Mayes, told The Knoxville News Sentinel that the robber demanded money - so she responded by throwing urns from a display.
The man got away with some cash...but didn't urn...er, earn much. His daughter was not injured.
Mayes said the thief may not have realized it was a funeral home, saying "a robbery is a little unusual for us."
