What celeb would Americans most hate having as a neighbor?

If good fences make good neighbors, living next to some people might require plenty of barbed wire.

When it comes to which celebrities Americans imagine would be the worst neighbor, one pop star leads the pack: Justin Bieber. One-third of American adults who were surveyed by real-estate research firm Zillow said the Canadian singer would be the celebrity they’d most hate to have living next door.

As for which celebrity they’d most like to live next to, the survey respondents picked a politician who will be moving house next month: President Barack Obama and his family. About 14 percent said they’d like to live next to the Obamas, followed by Dwayne Johnson (aka “The Rock”), at 13 percent. A relatively sizable chunk of respondents -- 28 percent -- said they’d prefer to live next to none of the celebrities on the list.

“Maybe it’s the additional neighborhood security or the possibility of running into other influential and famous people, but it’s clear people are intrigued by the idea of living next to the First Family,” said Jeremy Wacksman, Zillow chief marketing officer, in a statement. “On the other hand, Justin Bieber continues to stir up trouble everywhere he goes and would likely be an unpredictable neighbor.”

There’s some evidence for why Americans would snub Bieber as a neighbor. In 2014 the “Love Yourself” singer allegedly egged a neighbor’s house and ended up paying $80,000 to settle the vandalism charge.  Actors Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard once compared living next to Bieber as “like living in Lebanon now.”

Interestingly, Bell and Shepard made the list as the most desirable neighbors, with 5 percent of respondents saying they’d like to live next to the couple.

As for the Obamas, the first family will move into another home in Washington, D.C., located about two miles from the White House. The 8,200-square foot $6 million home is owned by former White House press secretary Joe Lockhart and his wife.

Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner were at the bottom of the “best” list, with only 5 percent of respondents saying they believe they would make good neighbors.
