Twins face murder charges after high-speed crash in Calif.

ANTELOPE, Calif. -- A car chase that started at around 5 a.m. on Wednesday in Auburn, Calif. ended with the deaths of an innocent, uninvolved father and daughter.

Investigators say twin brothers Ruslan and Roman Glukhoy stole a pickup truck and led cops on a wild car chase that reached speeds of almost 100 mph down Interstate 80.

After taking the Antelope exit, the brothers crashed into a white Kia driving down Antelope Road, and killed Jose Luis Barriga-Tovar, 35, and his 14-year-old daughter instantly.

The twins are now accused of murder.

"My heart and every fiber of my being goes out to the people that were injured and their families, and I'm so sorry, because I can't imagine what they're going through," said Ariana, a friend of the suspects' family.

She maintains that the brothers were generally good people, but they got caught up with the wrong crowd.

"I knew Roman and Ruslan very well, and I promise you that they're not able to live with themselves right now," she said. "What they did, they're not going to be able to live with."

The brothers, wanted for burglary, ditched the truck and were eventually taken into custody as neighbors watched.

A third suspect, Yuriy Merkushev, 21, was caught hiding in Loomis. He's charged with possession of stolen property and resisting arrest.
