Tracking the Fault Lines

My journey of "disconnection" continues and I've had some interesting experiences/reflections of late.

But I'll have to post those a little later since I'm currently working on a "Where America Stands" segment on earthquake preparedness and planning for this Saturday's CBS Evening News with Jeff Glor. It's actually a story that the producer and I pitched more than a month ago but of course with the tragic events in Haiti it's now more timely than ever.

So this week we're traveling from Las Vegas (to meet a victim of the Northridge earthquake in 1994) to the Lawrence Berkeley National Labs (to see the latest monitoring technology) to Memphis (to see what could happen with the New Madrid fault there). We're aiming for a comprehensive and detailed look at how the U.S. is dealing with the very real threat of earthquakes in many parts of this country and I hope you'll tune in. In the meantime, stay connected.
