Tiger Woods And Wife Have A Girl

Lose a major, become a father. That's what Tiger Woods did over a 24-hour stretch that ended with the birth of his daughter.

Woods announced on his Web site that Sam Alexis Woods was born early Monday. Woods wrote that his wife and child are doing well and resting peacefully.

The couple thanked their doctors and the hospital staff and said they look forward to introducing their daughter to their family in the next few weeks.

The birth came hours after Woods finished in a second-place tie at the U.S. Open, one shot behind Angel Cabrera.

Woods' said in the message that pictures of their new addition will be made available shortly.
