This Week: Give And Take
For celebrities it was a week of give and take, but not always in a good way.
Ellen DeGeneres found herself in hot water after giving her adopted pooch Iggy to her hairdresser. The adoption agency said no deal and took the pup back, upsetting Ellen so much that she cried on Tuesday's show and then canceled Thursday's taping.
A judge took away Britney Spears's visitation rights to her two sons, saying she still hadn't complied with all terms of a court order. Also during Spears' busy week, the pop star settled a hit-and-run parking lot fender bender case, giving the owner of the car she hit a $1,000 settlement. Spears was in the headlines again Friday morning for allegedly running over a paparazzo's foot.
Clay Aiken is taking on a new Broadway role. The former "American Idol" finalist will play Sir Robin in "Spamalot."
Two co-defendants took plea deals this week in the O.J. Simpson armed robbery case. CBS News legal analyst Andrew Cohen. believes that the pace of the deals will speed up a bit as the other co-defendants try to get the best deals they can while the DA is still offering.
Directing his first movie took a toll on actor Ben Affleck, sending him to the hospital at one point to seek relief for a migraine headache. Affleck, whose "Gone Baby Gone" opens Friday, says he spent so much effort on prep work that he developed a headache during the first week of shooting and ended up in the hospital emergency room on the weekend.
Oprah Winfrey said this week that she had to go from doctor to doctor before she was finally given a diagnosis of a severe thyroid condition.
The Spice Girls announced they will be giving their first television performance as a newly reunited group on The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show on CBS Dec. 4. They also will be selling their upcoming CD at Victoria's Secret stores.
Finally, Ricky Martin was given a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame this week. The pop star said, "I'm so motivated right now, we'll see where this takes me."
