Team-building

Donald Trump will keep working on his transition today at his Florida resort after spending Thanksgiving with his family. His top Cabinet position, secretary of state, is still open, and Republicans are divided over who should get the job. Now a senior transition adviser to Mr. Trump is openly questioning the man thought to be a top candidate.

Recall campaign

Just when you thought the bitter presidential election was finally behind us, the Green Party candidate is raising money to request recounts in three battleground states that gave Donald Trump the victory over Hillary Clinton. Jill Stein raised more than $4 million in just over 24 hours, but it’s still unclear what her new campaign can hope to accomplish.

Officers under fire

Over the past week, six officers were attacked in Texas, Missouri, Florida, Idaho and Michigan. This year alone, 60 officers have been shot and killed --  a 67 percent increase over last year. The reasons are unclear. While some were retribution for shootings of blacks by white officers, most suspects in these police shootings were white men.

Buyer beware

More than half of Americans say they plan to shop this holiday weekend either in person or online, where Black Friday sales are expected to top $3 billion for the first time ever. But with a record number of shoppers using mobile apps, experts warn you should approach these new conveniences with a “buyer beware” mentality.

Iconic mom

Florence Henderson, beloved as the matriarch in the long-running series “The Brady Bunch,” has died in Los Angeles after suffering heart failure. She was 82. Henderson began her career on Broadway in the 1950s, then went to Hollywood. She’ll be best remembered as the mother of a TV family that was at once modern, and traditional.

More than a coach

When the August Martin Angels hold a reunion, Joel Ascher is the guest of honor. For hundreds who’ve played high school hoops during his 30 year tenure, he’s been a coach and mentor -- but most of all, a guardian angel. When he arrived almost 40 years ago, the girl’s team didn’t even have a basketball.
