The Top 10 Colleges Which Reject Nearly Everyone

Here is a question that I bet most people could answer easily: Among all the universities in this country, which Top 10 Colleges That Reject Nearly Everyoneone crushes the dreams of the greatest percentage of its applicants?

Yeah, it's Harvard. Big surprise. More than 29,100 high school seniors hoping to be part of Harvard's Class of 2013 submitted applications during the last admission season and just 2,046 students or 7.1% successfully survived the academic equivalent of scaling Mount Everest.

If you're teenager hoping to over achieve your way into one of the nation's most elite schools, the admission causualty rates are grim. The folks at Ivy Success compiled a list on its website of the universities with the lowest acceptance rates. On the site you'll also find past acceptance rates, as well as other stats from previous years for these 10 schools as well.

Nation's Pickiest Universities

School Acceptance Rate
  1. Harvard University 7.1%
  2. Yale University 7.5%
  3. Stanford University 7.6%
  4. Princeton University 9.8%
  5. Columbia University 9.8%
  6. MIT 10.2%
  7. Brown University 10.8%
  8. Dartmouth College 12%
  9. University of Pennsylvania 17.1%
  10. Cornell University 19.8%
If these numbers are making you hyperventilate take a deep breath and consider one more statistic. Out of curiosity, I once ran numbers that I pulled from The Chronicle of Higher Ed's yearly almanac and I discovered that only .2% of all college freshmen attend one of the eight Ivy League schools.

If everyone who is rejected from the nation's snootiest universities is doomed to a life of failure, then nearly all of us are in trouble. And that's obviously ridiculous.
