The Resurgence of Apple Continues

The resurgence of Apple continues. The latest hot new product from Cupertino, the Mac G4 is streaking from the starting gate...handling graphics applications two to three times faster than a Pentium III...

"Well this refreshes our professional desktop line and with the recent announcement of the iBook, which was our first product in our consumer portable line, we now have a very strong product line all the way around, all four product categories that we're working on."
Apple Senior VP for hardware engineering Jon Rubinstein. While it is billed as a professional desktop machine...the low end of the G4 line could wind up taking sales away from the iMac....

"We designed these systems not only to be fast but to be very cost effective. So we're very aggressive on designing for cost. Our entry level system comes in at 1599. That's for a 400 Mhz G4 with one megabyte of L2 cache."
Combined with high end graphics and 10 gigabytes of storage. Later this fall, Apple will begin shipping systems with its new Cinema display...

"Which is a 22 inch flat panel display ."
That ultimate bundle starts at about 65 hundred dollars. But given what's going on at Apple today with the iMac, iBook and the G4, don't be surprised if demand outstrips the supply.
