"The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" trailer hits the web
In it, we see glimpses of Rooney Mara as hacker Lisbeth Salander, Daniel Craig as journalist Mikael Blomkvist and rapid-fire images of scenes from the best-selling Swedish novel, set to Trent Reznor and Karen O's cover of Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song."
The Hollywood Reporter notes that the trailer was supposedly recorded illegally inside a European theater, according to websites that first picked up the video. While the clip does look like it was recorded inside a movie theater, the MPAA warning before the video (aimed at U.S. moviegoers) and the sound quality throughout has some speculating that it was planted by Sony Pictures, according to the report.
On Tuesday, a rep for Sony Pictures told THR that the trailer had played in some U.S. theaters before "The Hangover Part II" and that is where they believe the clip was recorded.
Either way, the trailer, which advertises the film as "The Feel-Bad Movie of Christmas," looks promising.
Fincher's "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" hits theaters on Dec. 21. You can watch the trailer here (Warning: There is brief side-nudity, which is what probably gave the trailer its "red-band" status).
