The Case of the Missing Thongs Cracked by Police: Michigan State Student Pilfers 79 Panties

EAST LANSING, Mich. (CBS/AP) - Revenge of the Nerds fans are likely to be happy with a 19-year-old Michigan State University student who faces possible charges for staging a panty raid -- actually, two panty raids.

East Lansing Police Sgt. Florence McGlothian-Taylor tells The Detroit News that the student stole 79 pairs of panties -- all of which were thongs.

The suspect, who has not been named, was arrested April 7 after another student saw him taking underwear from a dryer in a dorm basement laundry room.

Apparently, police have been following the panty raider since March 22, when someone reported the theft of 15 pairs of panties from the same laundry.

However, no details have been released regarding the size, color, and material of each stolen undergarment.

The student-turned-suspect  insisted it was merely a prank, but police probed further in order to rule out possible sex addiction as a motive. (That's what they said)

Sgt. McGlothian-Taylor says there is one victim who wants to file charges, but that Ingham County prosecutors must decide if it is worth their time...I mean, if the panty-pilferer will be charged.
