"The Amazing Race" sows discord with Buddhas

Counting Buddha statues was one of the tasks in this week's episode

(CBS) Too many Buddhas tripped up most teams navigating the Indonesia leg of "The Amazing Race Sunday night. (SPOILER ALERT)

In their last task, teams were supposed to count how many of each of four different Buddha statues - the key word here - there were at an ancient temple and demonstrate the hand positions in each.

The first two teams - snowboarders Andy and Tommy and father-son sailors Laurence and Zac worked together. They correctly decided they were supposed to count statues but paid little attention to the hand positions, meaning they had to go back a second time.

But their extra work was nothing compared to the extra work other teams made for themselves by misreading the clue and counting the hundreds of Buddha carvings as well as the statues in the niches.

On the way out, the snowboarders shared the right answer with married Georgians Amani and Marcus. The first-place team justified the strategy by saying they had a right to choose which teams to compete against.

Marcus, who ended up doing the task, wasn't paying attention to the answers he was given, and Amani had trouble remembering them. But they got enough of an edge to move up from last place.

Laurence and Zac were first at the pit stop but they suffered a penalty for not paying attention to another clue in the game. Earlier, they had been instructed to fill a trough using two buckets and they used four.

Tommy and Andy then became the first team to reach the pit stop and won a trip to Dubai. They briefly considered giving the prize to Laurence and Zac, who came in second, but instead offered their competitors some snowboard gear.

Last to arrive were Vegas showgirls Kaylani and Lisa who, on the race to the pit stop, couldn't find where they had left their cab.

What did you think think of this episode? Were Andy a nd Tommy right to share the answers and work with the second place team? Are the clues getting trickier or the contestants just obtuse?
