Terence Stamp Of Approval
He was nominated for an Oscar for his first movie. Since then, actor Terence Stamp has played everything from Superman's nemesis to a drag queen to king of the universe.
Now in his latest movie, The Limey, Stamp plays a British ex-con who comes to America to avenge his daughter's death, reports CBS This Morning Co-Anchor Mark McEwen.
In The Limey, Stamp gets the opportunity to work with a cast that includes Peter Fonda.
"One's life is spent working with actors whose work leaves a lot to be desired, so it's always great to work with really good actors," says Stamp.
He also had that opportunity in Bowfinger, working with Steve Martin and Eddie Murphy. But it was not the case while shooting the summer blockbuster Star Wars Episode I - The Phantom Menace.
"On my first day, when I had a scene with Natalie Portman, [director George] Lucas had given her the day off, so Natalie Portman had become a post with a little bit of paper on it. So it wasn't memorable in any kind of intimate way," he recalls.
No stranger to comedy, Stamp won critical acclaim for his role as a drag queen in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, but his breakthrough role had its drawbacks.
"From wearing the high heels, my spine was completely out of alignment, and it took me about six months to get my spine re-orchestrated," he says.
