Taylor Swift to headline "New Year's Rockin' Eve" in New York City

The first song on Taylor Swift's newly-released "1989" album is called "Welcome to New York," and now Swift will be ringing in the New Year from NYC.

ABC announced Monday that the "Shake It Off" singer is the headliner for "New Year's Rockin' Eve," the annual countdown show hosted by Ryan Seacrest. The show plans some 38 musical performances over five and a half hours on the air. No other musical acts have been announced yet.

It will be Seacrest's 10th year hosting the annual celebration that was originated by Dick Clark.

"1989" was released Monday to positive reviews. Swift also announced another bit of New York news that same morning -- she's been named New York City's official welcome ambassador for tourism.

"I'm still learning, but I'm so enthusiastic about this city that when I love something, I'm very vocal about it," Swift said during an appearance on "Good Morning America." "New York was a huge landscape for what became this album. It's affected my life in ways I'm not even aware of fully."
