Subway Stop (WCBS-TV)

NEW YORK (CBS/AP) A brutal knife attack on a New York City subway early Sunday morning left two men dead, and a third injured.

The victims, Darnell Morrell, Ricardo Williams, both 24, and Mark Joseph, 23, were heading home on the subway from a party, reported the NY Daily News.

One of the victims threw a bag of trash through the open train door toward a trash receptacle, accidentally hitting a man. The man allegedly became enraged and in return stabbed two of the men to death. Police are still searching for the suspect.

The men boarded the train at Times Square, and were found when the train stopped at Varick and Houston streets in downtown Manhattan.

Morrell and Williams were pronounced dead at the hospital. Joseph was wounded and treated at a hospital. He had been stabbed in the arm and neck, but was in stable condition. Authorities are searching for the assailant.
