Strange Museum Sites
Do the tour guides look like this at the Museum of Modern Art? Probably not. Many small, unusual museum have their own web sites. Here are a few seen on CBS News Sunday Morning.
Museum of Bad Art: What exactly is good bad art? This place, located in Boston, is dedicated to celebrating the best of that strange category.
The Jello Museum: Brought to you by the LeRoy (N.Y.) Historical Society, this exhibit honors America's favorite gelatinous dessert, which was, not invented in LeRoy 101 years ago by a man named Pearle B. Wait. Among the nuggets you learn: Salt Lake City eats more jello than any other place in the country.
The Mustard Museum: What would the hot dog be without this flavorful yellow condiment? In Mount Horeb, Wisconsin, they created a shrine to mustard in all its guises, from dijon to French's.
The Liberace Museum: a temple to the man who took flamboyance to new highs. There is a lot here: separate galleries devoted just to pianos and cars, costumes and, of course, jewelry. Don't miss the display on Liberace's miniature piano collection.
Museumlink: This is a directory of museums all over the country, most of them small and unusual. Just a few of the gems you'll find here: the Arkansas Oil & Brine Museum in Smackover, Arkansas, the Georgia Rural Telephone Museum Leslie, and The Staff House Mining and Smelting Museum, in Kellogg, Idaho.
Unusual Museums of the Internet: A list of strange places all over the world, including the Banana Museum and the Obsolete Computer Museum.
