Stephen Colbert follows Trump's candidacy with "Shut Up, Dummy!' campaign
Stephen Colbert is having a little fun with Donald Trump's big presidential announcement.
The late-night host doesn't begin his new job at CBS until September, but that didn't stop him from getting involved in the political comedic dialogue, posting a spoof of Trump's campaign kick-off speech as part of the "Late Show" page on YouTube.
"Donald Trump's campaign for president of the United States is not just great for America. It's great for late night television," Colbert said in the video spoof, standing at a podium with a sign reading "Shut Up, Dummy." "Because Donald's presidential campaign has inspired me, Stephen Colbert, to announce that I will still be hosting the Late Show on CBS."
Colbert tackled the economy, jobs, wealth, family and more -- in his best Trump voice, of course.
"The real unemployment is...who knows? Pick a hat. Pick a hat out of a hat. Find a hat. There's another hat inside of it. That's how badly our hat business is doing in the United States," Colbert jokes, adding, "Mexico has the hats. They have the hat dance. The Mexicans know what to do with the hats."
