Nearly all of us have encountered a computer program that was too hard to use, crashed inexplicably, or was so poorly designed we wondered how the manufacturer stayed in business.

On the other end of the scale dwell the programs computer users have grown so attached to they can't live without them, let alone work.

The trouble is how to tell them apart.
