Police said they're investigating the discovery at the five-star Peninsula Hotel just off Fifth Avenue as a possible murder and attempted suicide. They say prescription drugs may have been involved.

A law enforcement official tells The Associated Press that a suicide note was found at the scene. The official wasn't authorized to publicly disclose details of the probe and insisted on anonymity.

Police say the 49-year-old woman's relatives told police Friday they feared the child was in danger. Police first went to her Central Park apartment building and then to the hotel.

Police say Jordan was in stable condition.

The Post reports Jordan was very distraught over the end of her marriage and checked into the upscale hotel fearing that her husband would fight for custody of the boy.
