Send Free International Text Messages with Jaxtr

A few days ago, the folks over at Gizmodo pointed out a new way to reach your international contacts. Using Jaxtr, which is primarily a free phone-to-web-to-phone international calling service, you can now send free text messages to cellphones all over the world. While Giz rightly points out some limitations—no texting friends in Mexico just yet—the service is quick and useful, and serves over fifty countries. I've been SMSing with folks in India that I'd normally have to email.
