Semantic Search Firm TextDigger Nabs $4.3 Million Round

TextDigger, a semantic search and text ad firm, has raised $4.3 million in a first round round of funding. True Ventures led the round, with follow-on investment from *Intel* Capital, CBS Interactive (NYSE: CBS) and a group of private investors. The San Jose, Calif.-based startup has raised $5.8 million in funding since its inception in 2007; it picked up a seed round that year.

TextDigger will use the funds for sales and product development; its technology tries to find the meaning behind site visitors' search queries to help deliver better results both internally and through external search engines. The company was founded group of former CNET employees; CEO Tim Musgrove is formerly CTO of SmartShop, the comparison shopping engine CNET acquired in 2002. Release.
