Russell Brand: Tom Cruise wouldn't convert me to Scientology

Russell Brand had lots of jokes on Tuesday night's "Conan" at the expense of Tom Cruise and Scientology. The funnyman told the late-night host that he tried to get his "Rock of Ages" co-star to convert him, but that Cruise wasn't interested in having Brand in his "cult."

"Firstly, [Cruise] is a glorious man, and is very kind and sweet," Brand began. "That's what you got to say if you want to continue to work in the film industry." Brand, 37, explained that he tried to coerce Cruise, 50, into asking him to join the Church of Scientology by saying things like, "Oh Tom, sometimes I feel a bit lost in life. He'd go, 'Oh, I dunno. Read the Bible.'"

"That man had no interest in getting me into Scientology at all," Brand joked. "If there's a cult that don't want me, I wanna know why."

While Brand was making jokes about Cruise to Conan O'Brien, the "Oblivion" actor was having a serious conversation about his acting on Tuesday night's "Daily Show with Jon Stewart." Check out his chat, below:
