Ross Reisner Murder Update: Brett Knight, man charged in equestrian's shooting death, due in court

(CBS/AP) RIVERHEAD, N.Y. - The former tenant of a prominent  equestrian is due in court Wednesday to face charges he killed his ex-landlord by firing 11 shots through the window of his suburban New York home.

Brett Knight, 45, has pleaded not guilty to a second-degree murder charge in the Sept. 24 killing of Ross Reisner, 50, in Setauket, Long Island. Prosecutors say one of the bullets grazed the forearm of Reisner's partner, Kevin Murray.

Proseuctors say Knight had rented a basement apartment from the two men, and a few months before the shooting Murray had filed a complaint against Knight after he allegedly harassed Reisner.

Reisner was a professional horse trainer as well as a rider. He appeared for decades at the Hampton Classic Horse Show.

Knight was arrested on Oct. 10 in Tennessee by Suffolk County, N.Y., homicide detectives and U.S. marshals. If convicted, he faces 25 years to life in prison.
