(CBS) Rapper Romeo is the only one of the 11 "Dancing With the Stars" contestants to come to the new season with baggage -- his father.

For those who came to the ABC hit only recently, Romeo , 21, was supposed to be part of the cast of the second season, back in 2006, when he was still known as Lil Romeo. An injury kept him off the show, but his father, music mogul Master P, stepped in for him.

The musical entrepreneur achieved some of the lowest scores in the history of the show. And for good reason. He refused to practice or even to wear dance shoes during performances. Yet, his devoted fans kept voting, keeping him on the show long after more able dancers were booted.

On Monday night, when season 12 premiered, there were lots of comments about Master P, from co-hosts Tom Bergeron and Brooke Burke, from Romeo himself and even from some of the other contestants.
