(CBS/WFOR) MIAMI - Investigators say young southwest Miami-Dade couple Nicole Dones and Jackson Wayne Powell, who were described by police as "a modern day Romeo and Juliet," have returned home safely.

"They've been recovered and I just dropped them off at home 15 minutes ago," private investigator David Gonzales told People Magazine Monday. "I can't say anything more at this time."

According to CBS affiliate WFOR, it is unclear where the star-crossed lovers were hiding while authorities were searching for them.

A spokesperson for the Chatham County Sheriffs Department in Savannah, Ga., said Powell was arrested on April 25 on a charge of shoplifting and released two days later after posting a $1,300 bond.

Dones' parents, who enlisted media help in their search with tearful on-camera pleas, have not responded to repeated requests about reports their daughter has been returned.

Dones, 17, and her 18-year-old boyfriend Powell went missing two weeks ago after their parents expressed concern about their romantic relationship. Dones left her parents' southwest Miami-Dade home in the early morning hours of April 18 carrying a few bags with personal belongings.
