Ricky Martin Adopting? Not Yet

Ricky Martin is a tireless advocate for victims of the child sex trade, sponsors three children in India and has been involved in numerous charities for children over the years.

Although he'd like to be a father someday, he's far too busy with his career to be diapering any little bon-bons just yet.

Nevertheless, rumors circulated on the Web Wednesday that Martin was planning to make like Angelina Jolie and adopt some kids. Even TMZ.com got into the action, quoting Martin as saying, "I believe that at some time in the future this house will be full of colored crayons strewn over the floor, and the walls covered with scribbles."

John Reilly, Ricky Martin's spokesperson, told TheShowbuzz that the story originated on sites that took the quote, from a recent Associated Press interview, out of context.

He confirmed that Martin might consider adopting someday, but right now he's focused on promoting his new album, MTV Unplugged which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Latin Albums chart this week.

Earlier this month, Martin received the 2006 Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year for his humanitarian work, performed on the Latin Grammy Awards broadcast, and appeared at record signings in New York, Los angeles and Puerto Rico.

His promotional tour continues with appearances on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" on Nov. 17, and "Live With Regis & Kelly" on Nov. 24.
