Report: Felon's home searched in N.C. missing woman case

WILSON, N.C. -Authorities in Wilson, N.C. are searching for a 20-year-old woman who vanished nearly a week ago, reports CBS affiliate WRAL.

Isabel Calvo Palacios was last seen by friends Friday at a home on Ward Boulevard in Wilson. Police have searched the home for several days, and the Wilson Times reports it belongs to felon Gregory K. Parks.

Gloria Cortez, Palacios' aunt, told the station she's been concerned for her niece's safety since Monday when one of her friends contacted her through Facebook, telling her she had heard Palacios was hurt.

So far, the search has turned up no sign of her.

Her family tells the station they're holding out hope.

"We just want to hear something from her, to know that she is OK, to know that she is alive," the missing woman's mother, Dominga Palacios, told the station.

Gregory Parks was convicted on two counts in participating in prostitution of a minor in February 2013, but an appeals court overturned the convictions, citing insufficient evidence, reports the Wilson Times. Parks reportedly has previous convictions ranging from manslaughter to attempted first- and second-degree rape.

Palacios is described as five feet, two inches tall, with brown hair and brown eyes. Friends and family say Palacios often carries a black purse with a black bow.

Anyone with information about Palacios is asked to call the Wilson Police Department at 252-399-2323 or Crime Stoppers at 252-243-2255.
