Reese Witherspoon says it's hard to dress for her petite, 5-foot-2 frame, but clearly she's doing something right: The actress was named People's "Best Dressed" star of 2015.

Witherspoon told People that she stays true to her style.

"I've always been Southern," she explained. "So I've always been attracted to that J. Crew preppy look with more color and sense of humor. Even when there are boho vibes going on in California. I don't feel comfortable in cutoff jean shorts. I think they're really cute; they're just not my personal style."

She also said that she likes to dress up, because "when you look good, you feel good," she said, taking a cue from her Elle Woods character of "Legally Blonde" fame.

Witherspoon told People that she derives inspiration for her style from a mix of fashion bloggers, another mom from her kids' school, a country singer, a French model and fellow petite celebs Natalie Portman and Rachel Bilson.

But most of all, Witherspoon takes her fashion cues from her grandmother, Dorothea Draper.

"She didn't leave the house without feeling somewhat put together," she said. "That doesn't mean she was dressed to the nines at all moments, but she pulled herself together and her presentation to the world was like, 'I've got my stuff together.' But it's a good lesson as a young person: It doesn't matter what's going on in your life, but you've got to show your best self to the world."

In fact, Witherspoon named her new clothing line, Draper James, after her grandmother. The actress has turned her attention to her new line, which features colorful, preppy pieces and cheeky tote bags with phrases like "Totes Y'all." Witherspoon totes has this fashion thing down.
