(CBS) The Red Hot Chili Peppers have postponed the start of their tour this year until late March to give frontman Anthony Kiedis time to recover from foot surgery.

According to the band's website, the tour, which was to have started on Jan. 20 in Sunrise, Fla., will now begin March 29 in Tampa Bay.

The band says Kiedis recently underwent surgery to remove a crushed sesamoid bone and correct a detached flexor tendon in his foot. He is expected to fully recover.

According to TMZ, Kiedis has been dealing with foot problems since the 2007 "Stadium Arcadium" tour and recently was seen on crutches at a Los Angeles Lakers game.

The band, which is touring to promote its "I'm With You" album, will end the first leg of the tour in mid-April, when it is slated to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of fame at a ceremony in Cleveland, and then resume touring in mid-August.
