Randy Quaid Walks, Community Service for Wife Evi, Say Reports
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (CBS/AP) Randy and Evi Quaid spent hours Wednesday morning working out a deal that will keep them out of jail after being accused of skipping out on a $10,000 hotel bill, according to reports.
Local station KEYT reports that felony charges against Randy Quaid were dropped, and that charges against his wife Evi were reduced to misdemeanors. Evi Quaid was sentenced to 3 years probation and 240 hours of community service, according to RadarOnline.com.
Evi said in a press conference that she was "happy" with her sentence and says she plans to do her service in LA. Radar reported that she believes she will benefit from this experience.
The Quaids were arrested Tuesday after they had failed to appear in court two weeks ago on a felony case that claimed they had defrauded an innkeeper out of more than $10,000. The two were quickly released after posting bail, and will now reportedly face no additional jail time
The Quaids had missed several court appearances in the case, which was being heard in Santa Barbara, about 90 miles northwest of Los Angeles.
