Rams' Horne Suspended

St. Louis Rams receiver Tony Horne, who returned kickoffs for touchdowns in each of the last two games, was suspended for four games by the NFL on Tuesday for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

No additional details were released in a two-sentence statement from the NFL. A call Tuesday night to the Rams wasn't immediately returned.

Horne answered an Atlanta touchdown with a 101-yard return Sunday, giving the Rams (5-0) a 14-7 lead. A week earlier, his 97-yard return was St. Louis' final touchdown in a blowout of San Francisco.

Horne, who played at Clemson, was named the Rams' most productive special teams player as a rookie last season. He had 56 kickoff returns for 1,306 yards a 23.3-yard average.

He will miss home games against Cleveland and Carolina, and games at Tennessee and Detroit. Horne is eligible to return for the Nov. 21 game at San Francisco.
