Poll: Hillary Clinton has edge on presidential qualities
A majority of voters in the U.S. think Hillary Clinton has presidential qualities, according to a Gallup survey released Tuesday.
While the poll found 51 percent described Clinton that way, only 32 percent said the same of Donald Trump.
It also found that 87 percent of Democrats believe Clinton has presidential qualities, while only 60 percent of Republicans said Trump has presidential qualities.
In previous elections, like 2008, 61 percent of voters said then-Sen. Barack Obama had presidential qualities and 60 percent said the same about his GOP rival, Sen. John McCain. In 2004, 52 percent said John Kerry had presidential qualities while 57 percent said George W. Bush did. In 2000, 59 percent said Al Gore had presidential qualities and 57 percent said the same about Bush, according to Gallup.
According to the latest poll, voters are split over whether they agree with each candidate on issues that matter to them. Forty-five percent of voters said they agree with Clinton on issues and 46 percent said they agree with Trump.
This comes as the current presidential race continues to tighten. A CBS News battleground tracker survey released Sunday found Clinton leading in Colorado, North Carolina and Pennsylvania while Trump is leading in Arizona.
The poll, which comes one week before the election, surveyed 945 registered voters between Oct. 27 and 28 with a 4 percentage point margin of error.
