Police: Man Hid in Car in Brazen Kidnap Attempt

GILBERT, Ariz. (CBS/KPHO) Police in Gilbert, Ariz. arrested 27-year-old Michael Alfonso Holguin after they say he attempted to kidnap a woman after hiding her in SUV.

CBS affiliate KPHO reports that according police the 25 year-old victim had pulled into a Shell gas station after getting off from work. While she was inside the store at service station, Holguin allegedly hid in the woman's SUV and waited for her.

Police say once the victim returned to her vehicle, Holguin emerged, grabbed the woman by the neck and instructed her to drive.

Holguin then allegedly kissed the victim's cheek and touched her.

After driving a half-mile, police say the victim's ordeal came to an end when she pulled into oncoming traffic, at which point Holguin released let her go.

Holguin subsequently fled and was found by police hiding in the backyard of a nearby home. He surrendered without incident

Holguin was booked into Maricopa county jail Sunday on charges of kidnapping and sexual abuse.

KPHO spoke to Holguin's mother, who said, "He's a good guy. He goes to church. He's got two kids and another one on the way. He's a good guy - just a bad situation."
