Police: Fla. substitute teacher had sex with 14-year-old boy
ST. CLOUD, Fla. -- A Florida substitute teacher was arrested Sunday and accused of having sex with a teenage boy dozens of times, reports CBS affiliate WKMG.
Sara Moore, 35, is charged with 10 counts of sexual battery on a minor. Moore most recently worked as a substitute health teacher at St. Cloud Middle School, but was terminated on Monday, according to school officials.
The Orlando Sentinel reports that Moore is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old who was friends with Moore's children. The teen met Moore at school, then got to know her through her children, the newspaper says.
St. Cloud police said that Moore had as many as 25 sexual encounters with the victim. Police also said the victim went on a vacation with Moore's family to California.
Moore's mother, however, said that her daughter hasn't done anything wrong.
"It has not been proved that she's done anything wrong, and she did not," said Moore's mother as she left their family home Sunday. "You know what, she's innocent until she is proven guilty. Don't make it look otherwise. She's a good, lovely person. You ask anybody that knows her."
Police said the boy's family became suspicious after finding explicit messages on his Instagram account and a box of condoms in his bedroom.
Investigators also said Moore would frequently pick the boy up from his home, even after being told he wasn't allowed to leave.
Moore was denied bond at a court hearing Monday.
