P.O. Loves Lucy, Too
The U.S. Postal Service promoted its Lucille Ball stamp Tuesday by holding a Lucy Look-Alike contest in New York City, CBS This Morning Co-Anchor Mark McEwen reports.
The red-headed contestants entertained the judges by reenacting their favorite skits from the I Love Lucy sitcom, which debuted in 1951 and has been in re-runs ever since.
One of the judges watching the Lucy impersonators go through their goofy routines was Gregg Oppenheimer, co-author of Laughs, Luck...and Lucy. He knew Lucy personally, because he's the son of I Love Lucy creator Jess Oppenheimer.
Oppenheimer explained why actress Justine Rossi won the competition. "She had a quality about her that reminded us of Lucy. She wasn't a dead ringer for her, but she had the voice...and she made us laugh a lot."
Rossi won a $500 U. S. savings bond.
