Pelosi Vows To "step In" If Needed
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has vowed to "step in" to prevent a nomination fight between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. Even still, she told the San Francisco Chronicle that the long primary battle has been a "positive experience" for the Democratic party.
Speaking to the paper's editorial board, Pelosi asserted that, "Because we cannot take this fight to the convention, it must be over before then."
Pelosi said she believes delegates from both Michigan and Florida should be seated at the Democratic convention in August, but "in a way that is not destructive to any sense of order in the party."
In the hour-long interview, Pelosi also addressed Scott McClellan's new book, President Bush, presumptive GOP nominee John McCain and the recent California court ruling to uphold same-sex marriages.
