Pawn shop Kindle given teen for Christmas contained child porn

Indianapolis, Ind.-  James Eaker says his 18-year-old daughter, Jessica, had been asking for a digital reading device for a few months; he told her to wait until Christmas.

But when she opened her Kindle Fire on Christmas day she still got quite a surprise.

Pornographic pictures and video of a young girl.

“She [Jessica] started crying and hollering at me,” Eaker told  WXIN-TV.  I went over there and grabbed it from her. I looked at it and said, ‘Oh my God. What is happening?’ They made me so sick. I didn’t even want to look.”

Eaker bought the device at a pawn shop.

After the rude awakening, Eaker contacted WXIN and local police to potentially warn others about making the same purchase mistake.

“If you get something that’s old or used, please check yourself before you give it to a child,” he cautioned.  “I ruined my little girl’s Christmas on that end.”

Eaker was given a new Kindle by the second-hand store.

“I just didn’t want it dropped. I didn’t want them to say, ‘Well, just delete this.’ That’s what we need to do.”

Investigators were unable to determine the exact age of the child seen on Eaker’s first Kindle. Police are  examining the images to establish whether charges could be pursued against the device’s former owner.
