Patriots' Brady Suing GM For $2M
The quarterback of the Super Bowl-bound New England Patriots, Tom Brady, is suing General Motors for $2 million for allegedly using his likeness in a Cadillac advertisement after his contract with the company had expired in 2003.
Cadillac issued a statement Wednesday calling the lawsuit, filed Monday in a Los Angeles court, "disappointing and shocking." The suit also seeks punitive damages.
"It was an honest mistake that we have attempted to reasonably resolve for the past year; however the settlement expectation of Mr. Brady's agents has been unreasonable," said Jeff Kuhlman, a Cadillac spokesman.
Calls to Brady's agent and attorneys Tuesday night were not immediately returned.
The defending champion Patriots face the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl on Feb. 6 in Jacksonville, Fla.
