This story was written by David Kaplan.

A lot of turmoil in the magazine business these days… After nine years as CEO and president of health/lifestyle mag publisher Rodale, Steven Pleshette Murphy (pictured) will leave his post. His successor is the company’s chairperson, Maria Rodale, who is the granddaughter of company founder J.I. Rodale and daughter of previous company chairpersons Robert Rodale and Ardath Rodale. Murphy did not say what his next step would be. In a statement, Maria Rodale said she’d been preparing her whole life to run the company.

The change comes two months after Rodale, which publishes, Women’s Health and Prevention, said its revenues declined 23 percent. Also, online advertising revenues for Rodales magazines decreased 2.6 percent. Release
