paidContent - Clikthrough Raises $1 Million For Interactive Video Site

This story was written by Joseph Tartakoff.

Here’s one way to try to boost engagement and further monetize online videos: Surround the clips with as many as nine tabs that let viewers chat, vote, add comments, and, yes, purchase related products, while they watch. Clikthrough, a startup with the tagline, “Stop Watching. Start Interacting,” has raised $1 million in a round of funding from several musicians, including Westlife leader Nicky Byrne, for its interactive video site. So far, the site only features 39 videos—but they do include music videos from the likes of Britney Spears, Lady GaGa, and Eminem. The company says that viewers tend to click multiple times while they watch, leading to additional revenue opportunities for content owners and advertisers. Release.
